National Solo Competition

The American String Teachers Association promotes excellence in string and orchestra teaching and playing. Through its biennial national solo competition, ASTA has helped launch the careers of a significant number of today's most successful artist performers and teachers. Among past ASTA prizewinners, you will find well-known soloists, principals of major symphony orchestras, prominent university studio faculty, and many more! Make plans to join this rich history by entering students in the 2013 ASTA National Solo Competition.

Students who wish to enter the 2013 National ASTA solo competition should consult the National ASTA website's National Solo Competition web page for audition repertoire and general procedure and the Solo Competition Guidelines.

ONLINE APPLICATION will be active later this year

The next ASTA National Solo Competition is scheduled for 2015, with an application deadline anticipated to be in November, 2014..

All auditions will be submitted via video upload and go directly to the National Preliminaries.

There will be no state level auditions.

Grand Prize: $5000

Senior Division Instrument Prizes: $1000

Junior Division Instrument Prizes: $500
